From the moment developer FromSoftware revealed their first Armored Core: VI Fires of Rubicon trailer, speculation began to run rife as to whether or not the title would be a Soulslike game.
In an interview with IGN, FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki put the speculation to rest.
“No, we’ve not been making a conscious effort to try to direct it towards more Soulsborne type gameplay. First of all, let me just make that clear. The essential direction of Armored Core VI was to go back and take a good look at the core concept of Armored Core and what made that series special. So we wanted to take the assembly aspect, assembling and customizing your own mech – your AC – and then being able to exact a high level of control over the assembled mech. So we wanted to take those two core concepts and reexamine those in our modern environment.”

In short, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will not be a Soulslike.

About the game:
A mysterious new substance was discovered on the remote planet, Rubicon 3. As an energy source, this substance was expected to dramatically advance humanity’s technological and communications capabilities. Instead, this substance caused a catastrophe that engulfed the planet and the surrounding stars in flames and storms, forming a Burning Star System.
Players will assemble and pilot their own mech with 3D maneuvrability to move freely through three dimensional fast-paced missions. Take on difficult challenges and overwhelm your enemies with dynamic movements that make full use of ranged and melee combat. Players can enjoy a variety of actions that can only be truly realized with mechs.
The game will be a single player action game experience.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will be released sometime in 2023 on PS4/5, Xbox One/Series X/S, and on Steam.
